Over and out. See you in 2013!

Okay, I’m announcing that I’m gracefully bowing out of #Drawcember. I feel bad and I admit that it is a little embarrassing for me to start a challenge and then not follow it through to the end. That’s totally not my style.

As a professional illustrator, my job requires that I meet deadlines – sometimes very tight ones. It can be a lot of pressure but I love what I do or I would not be doing it. This sketch challenge started out as something fun but grew into a chore as it got harder to find free time during the super busy month of December. I knew that this might happen so I’m okay with it (aside from having to suck up my own artistic pride).

Family who I only get to see once a year (if I’m lucky) is in town to visit for the holiday and the week after that I’ll be on the road, traveling with friends. I feel that I need to be present in my life right now, and enjoy the people around me who I love. I need a break from work. Work will always be around the corner. I have a feeling that 2013 is going to be very busy.

I really appreciate everyone who got involved in the #Drawcember project. I enjoy looking at your posts every day. Thank you for joining in and making the challenge a success. Keep it up! I might even get a few more sketches up if I get a chance.

I wish everyone a really merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year! Keep Drawing!
