Strix Nebulosa (Great Grey Owl)

Strix Nebulosa (Great Grey Owl)

CARNIVORE week 3 - Strix Nebulosa (Great Grey Owl)

February 15, 2017 in Fine Art

Great Grey Owl

The Great Grey Owl is documented as the larges species of owl by length in the world. It ranges across the Northern Hemisphere and is the only species of Strix found in both Western and Eastern Hemispheres. Due to their large size, adult birds have few natural predators. The greatest threat to this species is the harvest of timber and the clear cutting of dead trees which adults depend on for perching while hunting and full canopy protection for juvenile birds.
