BoardEffect is SaaS (software as a service) company based out of Philadelphia and Washington DC whose specialized focus is the management of the day to day of board of directors for non profits. They hired me to illustrate some "character spots", for their new website.
They wanted spots of several different characters that represent people in key roles who make up a board of directors: for example, the Executive Director, the Board Chair, the Executive Assistant and the Information Technology Specialist.
The way that I work is normally very detailed and I'm a real stickler about getting illustrations of people to to look exactly like who they are supposed to look like. So this assignment was a different kind of animal for me - the client wanted more generic, simplified flat illustrations to represent certain job roles. Sounds easy, huh? It was not!
I must admit that it was hard for me to reel myself in and simplify but it was also a good exercise in following art and client direction. Plus, the client was super happy with the final work, which is the most important thing of all. I gotta say, the spots do look pretty sharp on their on their new site. Check them out!
